"American Idol": The Day After

So here’s the latest on the travesty known as “American Idol”…

Fuel has officially offered Chris the job as lead singer of their band. They did so on “Extra.” Chris is contractually obligated to “Idol” for another three months, but he says he’s weighing all of his options. Personally, I’d like to see him go the solo career route, but joining an established band is probably hard to pass up…Interestingly, Chris auditioned for “Rock Star: INXS”…

Some people are giving Ryan some flack for being so abrupt to Chris (I didn’t see him being any different than normal.). Ryan said he was so shocked by Chris’ departure that he wanted it to “resonate with the audience.” Chris thought that Ryan was just joking with him and was actually going to say something else.

As for the judges’ reaction, Randy told Chris he was going to be okay. Paula couldn’t say anything because she was crying too much and Simon told Chris he never expected him to be eliminated and wished him the best.

Chris got a call from Ace after the show to make sure he was okay since Ace and Chris became like brothers. In fact, when they ended up in the bottom two together, Ace reportedly said he would have let Chris have his place if Chris had been voted off.

So why did he get voted off? Chris’ theory is that people thought he was safe, so they didn’t vote.

Shame on all of you if that’s the case. You notice that for the first time in several weeks, Ryan did not say how many people voted. I’m wondering if that means the numbers were down.

Stay tuned…
