Celebrating "The Simpsons"

Tonight, FOX will celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Simpsons” with a documentary produced and directed by Morgan Spurlock—“The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D and On Ice.”

But in typical “Simpsons” fashion, the special is neither in 3-D nor on ice (Don’t let the picture fool you.).

I’ve never been much of a “Simpsons” fan, but I completely recognize the contributions the show has made not only to pop culture, but also to TV itself. After all, we would never have met Stewie Griffin without Bart Simpson. “Simpsons” was the first to take chances and tell jokes that no one else did—even if they weren’t always popular (and they usually weren’t).

“The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D and On Ice” airs tonight (Sunday, January 10th) at 8:30 p.m., following the 450th episode of “The Simpsons,” on FOX…
