"Kell On Earth" Review: Never Quite Gets There

Say you’re cooking something and it tastes good but you know you can make it better. So you keep adding stuff to it to try and get it to that perfect point and you come oh so close. But in the end it never quite gets there.

That’s exactly how I feel about Bravo’s latest series, “Kell On Earth.”

“Kell” follows Kelly Cutrone, a fashion PR powerhouse whose bark is just as bad as her bite. She is the owner of People’s Revolution, one of the most successful fashion PR companies in the business. Helping her navigate fashion show theatrics and seating chart politics are her partners Robyn and Emily, her assistant Andrew, and Stefanie, who was just promoted from assistant to account executive.

In the premiere, Kelly is smack dab in the middle of one of her busiest times of the year—New York Fashion Week. Her people are working on RSVPs and seating charts for two major fashion shows while Kelly tries to avoid any PR mistakes of her own (She made a whopper last year that I won’t give away here.). But nothing is ever easy as Kelly must deal with the inexperience of her people and a computer glitch that threatens to cripple an entire show. Not to mention that she must juggle the demands of being a single mother.

There are plenty of little dramas that could turn “Kell” into a solid show, but just when you think the dramas will explode, they don’t. And sadly, without exploding dramas, “Kell” never quite gets there.

There is potential though and I’m willing to give it another shot—if only to see how that whole seating chart thing gets straightened out…
